A Little Spinning Time

So whenever I’m in a funk, I think “spinning will cheer me up.” I got out my Joy project and decided to set back off to work. This time I decided to take a few pictures of my hand carding as well. This is the first time I charged the card.

Here is it blended.

I just stroke the cards back and forth. Now with this one in particular. I think it’s a bit blended. I want to keep the individual colors with just a little blending, so I don’t just get orange. I want more like an orange sunset.

Here is the rolag and pre-drafted.

See kinda orange. In the big scheme of things it will be ok.Here is my second card charging.

You see I don’t charge in the same order each time. I like to mix it up.

Here it is blended on the card.

Way less blending. I only do 3 or 4 strokes.

Here is the rolag.

Much better in my opinion. Blended, but keeping the colors separate.

Finally, how my bobbin is coming along.

This is a bit slower process because I need to at least do a little pre-drafting, which I don’t normally do, but this is merino top and combined with my carding the fibers get a bit clumped before I can get them out when spinning.

  • Oh, my, this is just too yummy….you might have actually inspired envy…in me! 🙂 I really need to get my act together and get into my fiber supply! 😀

  • That reminds me so of the gorgeous yarn Debbi dyed. I should have snagged a photo of the bit of sock she’d knitted from it Thursday before she frogged it. It was far to small for it’s intended recipient.
