Basement Projects

Let me just say… whoa this Ravelry is really addictive. I can see many an hours spent surfing and organizing. I’ve already added myself to a bunch of groups and added a bunch of friends. This is going to be fun. I hope they get shirts and bags out soon. I’m going to need one.

So on the knitting front, I’m trying to finish the Marley hat to send with the pumpkin one. I’m knitting the pain in the can tassels. There’s just a lot of them. Plus still have to weave those ends in. Ugh.

I have to get back to my sweater though this week, because there will be no bee until the sweater is done. How I’m holding out, I don’t know. Just have so many so close to being done, I guess it’s spurring me on. (lol) Pictures of the hat tomorrow. Hopefully I’ll get it done tonight.

So the basement is nearly done. Monsieur Purl still has to paint the stairs, but for the most part it’s done. I have to say he did most the work. I helped a little and painted a bit, but for the most part credit is his.

The before, once he got the old flooring and tack strips up.

I think the flooring turned out so nice, I have been dreaming about ripping out the carpet upstairs and putting it in. Cheaper than Pergo and the skittish Sophie dog doesn’t seem to mind. It’s a bit tackier also than Pergo and I think that’s why it’s been deemed acceptable. Plus so many styles to choose from, I’m sure something would look nice.

  • spiffy redo! We’ve got one teeny square of carpet that I’d *love* to abolish but it’ll be awhile before we do that as we’d need to do the entire first floor to get rid of it. Glad to hear Sophie is happy with the new floor too. 🙂

  • Your basement looks great! We have tack strips in our basement floor. Do you have any helpful hints to share on removing them?

  • The floors look great! If you don’t already own one, the best $28 I’ve ever spent has been on my Swiffer vac. It is actually fun to use and does a great job on smooth surface floors. I’ve even used it on a couple of low pile throw rugs. Oh, and it’s cordless/rechargeable. I bought Jill one for her birthday… told her she was either going to love me or hate me for her present this year, she loves it too.
