Flowers and Fleece

So last Friday, Julie and I headed out to Garden in the Woods, in Framingham MA.  It was a beautiful day as the rain held off and wasn’t too hot.  This is a beautiful walk through a natural garden.  There were a ton of fiddle-heads among other flowers and wildlife, which were just gorgeous.

From there we went to the Burlington Mall, with a quick stop at Knit Purl, where great restraint was shown.  At the mall we first had lunch at Legal Seafood, which DH and I used to go to monthly at a treat when we lived there.  I love their crab cakes like no other and this time did not disappoint.

Our original intent was to head to Teavana.  I saw Julie’s tea thermos and had to have one for my very own.  However,  I have to tell you I wasn’t crazy about their tea.  I’m a Rooibos drinker most days now and found there’s to be overpriced and what’s worse – weak.  It just didn’t have the quality of the stuff I buy from Adagio teas.

From there we headed to Derry, NH to The Yarn and Fiber Co, which did not disappoint.  This is a great shop in the area and I would definitley go back.  However, we did have the NH Sheep and Wool the next day, so I again re-frained from making any purchases.

Saturday we headed off to NH Sheep and Wool where our primary focus was fleece, fleece and more fleece please.

We scored of course…

Then onto the misc.  I bought some lovely cormo/silk blend from fox fiber, some merino/tencel, and a lovely colorful swan spindle from Grafton Fiber, which adds another one I wanted to my collection.

I have to tell you I was seriously tempted by a double treadle Hitchiker and thought for a moment, I would go home with one, but I figure I hardly use my Joy now and I really didn’t know if I would use it except when traveling.  Well, I can think about it for sure.  I think if I was to get one, it would be a Roadbug – the slightly shorter version.

It was a long day as we had to wait for 1/2 of Pru’s black cormo fleece, which was in the show.  I think it was worth it though.

Sunday was a day of rest, which was needed by us all.  Then Monday we packed up the fleeces and after lunch and a walk around Nashua, NH we headed back to the airport.  My flight was supposed to leave at 5:15 PM and didn’t end up leaving until 8:00 PM.  They had to get a new plane out of Chicago and everyone was exhausted.  I finally walked in the door at 11:45 PM.  Thank goodness I had myself booked to not work.  I needed that extra day of rest.
