FMQ with Silk

Just to experiment I decided to do some quilting with Kimono and YLI Silk.  Both did fabulous and here is the YLI example.  I’ve been working with a new book – Machine Free Hand Patterns and it is very easy for me to look at the patterns and create them as I go.  Maybe I’m getting a little better with the eye to hand coordination, but it is getting easier with practice.

The YLI was a bit closer in color and looks better than my first attempts with the Kimono, but both were wonderful in the sewing machine.  I’m thinking of putting a little Kimono on my next Superior Threads order.

This picture shows the bottom with a little Aurifil to see what a darker color cotton looks like with the silk as a comparison.

I love all this FMQ with silk.  Of course this leaves me in a quandary now.  Remember this lovely sampler.

First Quilt

Well it’s still waiting to be quilted as desired.  I was thinking of hand quilting, but now the silk is calling to me.   Decisions, decisions.  What do you all think?  I suppose I could do both – FMQ and hand quilt with some silk as well.  I may need to pest up the experienced quilting ladies this week.  Of course there’s also the second one that needs to be quilted.

I love the darker color but of course it’ll look entirely different when you’re stitching on colored fabric.
