Free Motion Quilting

Yesterday I took a free motion quilting class.  I found it’s a lot harder than it looks, but I think with some practice it will get better.

Here is where I put some stencils on and tried to go around them.  I think some of them remind me of Tim Burton type fingers.  The stencils were much harder than the free motion part.

Finally, here is the quilt.

I’m still working on it.  I spent 6 hours today sorting the spinning room, so I can move the loom in there.  I moved the fleeces down to the basement and have been sorting through things.  Once I have the loom out of the other room, I can put two tables up and move the sewing machine into the L.  Once I have that sorted, I can get back to the quilting.

Especially, since stash seems to be building up around here.

  • Oh man – you are getting in deep!!
Your free motion quilting looks way better than mine – I have yet to do it on anything smaller than a tiny fake quilt sandwich.
I am SOOOOO jealous of your drop in table that’s coming – if I could pick one thing right now it would be a table that my machine could drop into for a nice big flat surface. Looks like you’re having a blast – just to let you know…..it’s a slippery slope – my fabric stash is WAYYYYY bigger than my yarn/fiber/fleece stash – have fun!
