Getting to Know You
Oh yes this wheel is definitely my cup of tea. With my Joy I was just learning, so it took a while to get the hang of it. For my Schacht we had a breaking in time, but now of course I love her, but with my new baby it’s like chatting with an old friend.
So it’s quite boring around here as for the past few nights we’ve been just sitting around spinning. I spun up another ounce for a total of 4 ounces on this gorgeous bobbin – keeping the colors very distinct. I think I’m feeling navajo plying coming on.
I think I knew how popular this wheel was, but I didn’t really know until I started looking around. There is a group for Lendrum owners on Yahoo – very informative. I was looking on there about the very fast flyer. While I know cotton is in my future, I also seemed to sign myself up for several lace classes and from what I read the VFF is not a necessity but it makes it easier to spin as fine as a frog hair with it (lol). As fine as a frog’s hair that’s what someone said on the group – I loved it. So I thought why not? As Monsieur Purl pointed out – of course you need accessories.
Of course I was talking to Mother when I mentioned maybe I should sew up a padded bag for it. Of course laughing ensued… we won’t talk about all my sewing mishaps. She mentioned that with dimensions she could possibly whip up a nice padded bag pretty quick. Yes!!! New bag and I don’t have to sew it. Whohoo. I mentioned about the handles and that it goes on your bag or you carry it. Since I’ve struggled with my Joy and this is larger we started brainstorming and a cart came up. Rolling it through festival grounds and to events would be way easier, especially by the time I carry all of the other goodies that must go. Save the back is what I say. Plus the cart could come in handy for a lot of things – like shopping at the fair… hmm…
