How High is High?

So I don’t have any knitting to talk about tonight. However, let me direct you do Sock that Rock – they have some new colorways out and I must have, absolutely can’t live without – Pink Granite. I love pink, black, and white – Paris in the 50’s motif. Don’t ask me why, I just do. When I re-do my site in the future, I may have to look for some pink poodles or something for it. (lol) I love fashion from the 50’s to – something about it was flattering. Now I done sweatshirt, ponytail, and jeans on a regular basis. Not fashionable, but if you been around awhile and know my work woes, you know why.

Which brings me to my next topic. If you have blood pressure that is higher than normal – how high is high.  Normally my blood pressure is under 120 and I mean I’ve clocked 110.  I tried to give blood once and they could barely get any out of me.  We were testing the glucose meter that we got for our diabetic cat and I couldn’t get enough blood out of my finger to test myself.  So needless to say I was a little shocked when it was over 130 last week when I went to the Dr.  I thought maybe it was because I just got sick and needed an antibiotic, but then today I stopped at Wally World to pick up some allergy tabs and the BP machine was right there so I thought what the heck.  The first reading was 137, then 134, then 133.  Monsieur Purl thinks it’s nothing to worry about – I’ve been traveling and under stress lately that should clear up soon – well as soon as I’m able to break a little more, but really should I be worried?  I don’t know.  I think I’m going to try to get back to some exercise and yoga.  And diet – we can’t forget diet.  Then see again in a bit.  If it is still high then I will go to the doctor.

The only other thing – I’m updating my albums on the side link.  I’m thinking of and so far have dropped Gallery as my option in favor of Picasa Web Albums.  Since I put all my pictures in Picasa – it’s so much easier to push a button to publish.  I’ve gotten fairly good with WordPress, but I don’t think I’ll ever really figure out Gallery.

  • I don’t know how high is too high… I have very low blood pressure. Over here the blood pressure measurement has 2 numbers and for me they are 55 and 90-something. Sometimes I drop below those and it is very rare that the top one gets over 110 (when I’m very nervous). My grandpa also had such low blood pressure 🙂

  • High starts at 140 and 160 is the next step up over that and for the bottom number it’s 90-99 and over 100 for the next step up. Reduce salt is what I remember from when Dad got high blood pressure. So far mine has always been fine, it’s my cholesterol that’s through the roof.

  • My DH was acting odd when we were buying our house about 2 years ago. Turns out he had stress-induced high BP. He got a BP monitor per the doctor’s recommendation and recorded his BP almost every day for a couple of weeks (after we closed on the house) and the numbers went back to normal when the stress level went down. Just an example of it not being a permanent thing.

I like pink, black and white together, too, but I’ll enjoy the poodles from afar. *g*

  • That really isnt’t high. The good thing is that you have recognized it and are watching. Keep an eye on it and reduce your stress!

  • Man you are killing me with the great pinks! Glad Julie was able to answer the BP question, I’ve always wondered too. Last time I was at the doc mine was 134 (usually 110) and they weren’t concerned, she said pain can also raise it.

I’m with ya on the knitting and spinning lately. I just haven’t felt like it. I did start crocheting a granny square baby blanket last night though. I’m doing it in white cotton, hope I can keep the momentum going on it.
