Not A Wink

This is Sophie.

Sophie 1-17-2008 1-26-34 PM

Sophie has been my friend since she was 13 weeks old. Today she is 10.5 years old. Sophie has been with me through thick and thin and followed me on all my crazy adventures.

Sophie’s health hasn’t been the greatest over the years, but yesterday her breathing got a bit labored. Sometimes it’s a bit hard to tell because Sophie is a drama queen. Last night Sophie decided to keep up everyone in the house all night long with the snoring of a freight train. I think I finally fell asleep about 6am for a couple of hours. I called into work and got her a vet appointment. It appears she has either a swollen gland (possibly teeth related – her teeth were cleaned 6 or 8 months ago at the most) or lymph node, or a tumor pressing on the airway. Since the swelling has gone down I really don’t think it’s a tumor. Anyway, it’s time for anti-biotics for her and a nap for everyone involved. The picture above is this afternoon when we got home. I’ll keep everyone posted including the vet. He wants to try some drugs first as the area under the neck is not an area to be poking around willy nilly.

  • I hope Sophie feels better soon. I also hope you get some rest. i’m used to snoring i have a sterio effect between Jeff and bessie spot.

  • Poor Sophie…and poor you…sorry about the no sleep. Four of mine had recent dentals, poor old Oscar has to have a bunch of teeth pulled, because they were infected.

Oh, and I sent that package this afternoon!
