Snow Day!!!

Today was the best gift an adult can get…a snow day.  I know it was 90-degrees today and no snow and thus it’s more like the proverbial snow day, but here’s what happened.  We had the worse thuderstorm last night I had ever heard.  It woke us up at 4am and the thunder would rumble after an intense strike for about 5 minutes.  Since I was up in the middle of the night, I slept in, got up and got myself together for work.  I went to work just like normal and didn’t see anything interesting.  I pulled in and all the doors were open to the business and people were milling about.  The first thing I heard was “no electricity.”  A huge smile spread across my face because I knew exactly what that meant.  No phone, no computers, no lights, no air, and no work today.  Yeah!!!  The kid in me went “SNOW DAY!!!”  I know it was bad for the business, but I’m not worried about that at this time.

What did I do with that extra day of wonderful.  Well, I finally tackled my crafty room again that keeps getting put off.  It seems like I get it organized and then it’s like a fiber bomb goes off and it’s all a mess again.  Anyway after a few well spent hours this afternoon – it’s nearly livable again.  I’m trying to decided if I should head to Stitches Midwest this weekend.  I keep thinking I’ll come home with more stuff and we all know I don’t need any more.  Plus when I look around the fiber holding area, one more ball of yarn and the whole tentative thing may crumble.  I would like to go look, but I really should help with the basement that is being painted this weekend.  New floor next week down there.  Yeah to that too.

Well I hope you all had a lovely day and get a cool snow day real soon.

  • Sounds like we were doing similar things yesterday. I spent the day working on Daniel’s room. There’s only the desk left to do now so he’ll have a clean start when he gets home in a couple weeks. As soon as Jason can help me cart that downstairs I’ve got a can of spray paint just waiting for it. 😉

  • Ooh! I’m so jealous! I wish downtown DC would shut down due to lack of electricity. Not my apartment, mind you, because that would be unbearable, but just enough to give us a snow day.
