This is number 10 out of 12 blocks for the $5 Friendship quilt.
Complete with fussy cutting the center.
I’m a gadget girl and decided to break out these Quilt Ruler Triangle Additions. I purchased their Ultimate Stash Buster Kit for a 12″ ruler that comes with the prep tool. It’s Finished Size Quilting by Guidelines 4 Quilting if you’re googling. Let me just say, this was not only fun, but made the best, most accurate flying geese and half-square triangles. The basic premis is your focus on the finished size of the pieces when you’re cutting. The flying geese were so nice, I did them twice… second time with the correct color placement.
Then I did the square in a square, in a square, and that turned out perfect too with the rulers. Yes, there was bit of waste with the trimming, but it was so worth it to have perfection. Of course, my sewing – the 1/4″ seam is still in practice stage, but the pieces were perfect and not too bad putting it together. I’ll may have taken me a smidge longer in cutting time, but it was the first time using them and reading through the booklet, but it was so much less hassle putting the pieces and the final final block together that I think it all balanced out.
